My Week

Snippets of my week in photos and a few words…

Beginning of the week, a lovely walk on a quiet beach in Marazion with my son. I didn’t swim as the sea was the wrong tone for me. I like certain conditions- flat as a millpond and crystal clear blue or green. As a result I’ve had 1 swim this year….

Midweek, I strolled along Penzance prom with a friend to visit the Huw Locke exhibition at Newlyn Art Gallery which we really enjoyed. The logistics of hanging all the boats!
I’d seen the Chantal Joffre the week before at The Exchange, Penzance. I’d recommend both.

I took a photo of these vibrant blooms in our health food shop as a starting point for a new painting.

On Thursday I made this new print at my printmaking class at Penzance School of Art. I feel it needs something more going on but I’ll see what I think next week when I collect it.

The one below is from a variable edition of 4 which I’ve recently listed on my online shop. There’s a strong William Scott influence with this one with the limited palette and essence of form.

On Thursday afternoon I finished the painting below featuring a favourite watering can, a bowl I made in 2020 and a limpet shell found on Tresco beach.

I also started work athe floral piece inspired by the previous flower photo. I was aiming for an abstracted piece with coloured shapes and limited details.

I’m tying it in with a couple of previous paintings I’ve made in the same style.

The green and white daisy painting above has been in my studio for quite some time but it’s grown on me. I’ve nearly painted over many times it but a recent visitor to my studio said they liked it so I’ve refrained.

I popped into Linen and Clay on Chapel Street and bought a tiny little cup for my still life paintings. The sketch may be a starting point for a small painting.

And I finished the week with an exciting delivery from Woodmansterne cards. They’ve just published 9 of my images as a card range and I’m really happy with how they look.
